Michigan Beach Engagement Shoot

I had so much fun exploring the dunes and forests with Alexa & Ryan capturing their cozy, Lake Michigan engagement photos. We had the best October weather, and these two made it so easy to capture their candid moments and authentic love.

I always help my clients decide on a photoshoot location that is meaningful and unique to them. We ended up choosing to do their engagement photo session at Oval Beach in Saugatuck! It turned out to be the perfect setting for their late summer, early fall engagement photoshoot.

My Approach to Engagement Photos

I adore getting to hang out with my couples at their engagement photo sessions, it’s one of the things I love most about my job! We daydream about what their wedding will be like, I get to learn all of their goofy inside jokes, and capturing their love in a natural & carefree setting is so rewarding. 

I also make it a priority to make each engagement photo session personal and unique to every couple. 

Alexa & Ryan told me they had a special bottle of champagne that was given to them at their engagement. On the champagne bottle, their friends had engraved their names and their engagement date! So it felt fitting to do champagne popping photos with their special bottle of Veuve Clicquot during their Lake Michigan engagement photos.

We also stepped aside and took advantage of the beautiful dunes for a duration of their engagement shoot. I absolutely love the texture and tones of the dunes along Lake Michigan. They make such a great backdrop for photos!

They sipped on their champagne while we watched the most beautiful sunset. The sky turned from golden hour to cotton candy pink in a matter of moments. It was an engagement photoshoot to remember!
