My photography style is documentary and authentic, but I still give lots of guidance and direction to my clients. I capture candid photos by giving prompts, movements, and actions that get you interacting together and feeling comfortable in front of the camera.
I absolutely love taking my photos on 35mm film to capture the nostalgic emotions and natural coloring that only film photography can do! Keep reading below to learn more about film.

After years of shooting both digital and film photos, I heard resounding feedback from my clients that the film pictures were their favorite images by far. So I listened! Also, film photography feels different than the digital photos we take on our phones and see on our screens all day every day. Film photos feel more special and real, more honest and timeless, and in my opinion, that’s how a wedding, engagement, or any photoshoot gallery should feel! It should feel like a special moment in time, not just another pile of digital images. Lastly, as a photographer film grants me a more creative process. It allows me to have a more artistic approach and really intentionally expose each frame, set each pose, patiently wait for the perfect moment... I like to think of it as quality over quantity, you may receive slightly fewer photos than you would with digital photography, but I promise the quality and emotional depth of film photos more than makes up for it.

If you've never had your photos taken on film before and you’re still unsure if film photography is for you, here’s a few things to consider… Do you generally prefer quality over quantity? Do you appreciate vintage clothes, antiquing, the character of older homes, the sound of a vinyl record player? Do you believe that imperfections can be beautiful, that patina adds texture and charm? Do you enjoy watching old family videos and flipping through your grandparents photo albums? Do you value family heirlooms? Do you love the feeling of deep nostalgia? Have you ever been told that you have an old soul? Do you appreciate art and museums, imaginative ideas and out of the ordinary designs? Do you want your wedding/photoshoot pictures to feel unique, one of a kind, different than all the photos on your phone?

Generally you will receive your photos 2-3 weeks after your wedding or photoshoot via an online gallery. Your film will be sent to a trusted lab to be developed, then scanned as digital files and uploaded to an online gallery so that you will be able to download all of the images right to your devices, order prints and albums in whatever size/format you choose, and easily share the link with family & friends. 

I typically book weddings no more than 12-15 months in advance, and photo sessions 1-2 month in advance. Feel free to reach out accordingly!

I don't typically travel outside of Michigan for photo sessions, but I am available for destination weddings! I've photographed weddings across the U.S., in California, Arizona, Maine, Florida, Wyoming, and more. I've also captured international destination weddings!
