Best Airbnbs in Michigan for Weddings & Elopements

Airbnb weddings and elopements are becoming SO popular, and I absolutely love it! As a Michigan wedding and elopement photographer, I help my clients plan the perfect day and find the best places to get married. So I compiled a list of all the Best Airbnbs in Michigan, and I’m sharing it below!

How to Have an Airbnb Wedding

First things first, you might be wondering how to have an Airbnb wedding or elopement. If you’re not a fan of being in the spotlight and you just want to celebrate your marriage with the people you love most, then an Airbnb wedding might be the right fit for you!

The idea is that you would find a cool Airbnb in an amazing location that can fit your closest family and friends. Then you would rent it out for a week/weekend and have a fun getaway wedding experience with the people you love most.

If the Airbnb happens to have a great backyard/waterfront beach/mountain views, you can have your intimate ceremony right on their property. Or you can opt to go to a nearby elopement location to exchange your vows, and then return to the Airbnb for an intimate dinner or campfire reception with your favorite people. One thing I always recommend, before you book the Airbnb make sure you message the host about your wedding plans. Some Airbnbs have different rules and restrictions for events, such as guest limits, noise curfews, etc. It’s better to figure those things out prior to booking than to have any issues later on.

Silver Lake Sand Dunes Castle

Shelby, Michigan

This one-of-a-kind castle is conveniently located near Silver Lake Sand Dunes, making it the perfect places to stay for a Dunes elopement! With 6 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and 2 1/2 baths, it’s large enough to host a group. The property also has a private beach on Lake Michigan if you’d like to exchange your vows right on site.

Northern Michigan Treehouse Rental

Leelanau, Michigan

This amazing treehouse is just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. With Scandinavian, modern design, it sleeps 6 guests and has a wonderful location. Just a short drive from the cute towns of Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport, wineries, distilleries, and within walking distance of lake access. You could elope at Sleeping Bear Dunes or your favorite winery, and then spend a weekend in a treehouse with your closets friends!

Modern Pool Party House Rental

New Buffalo, Michigan

Located in Southwest Michigan, this luxury rental property is beautiful designed and made for parties. You’ll have a chef’s kitchen, 7 bedrooms, massive pool and two hot tubs, two outdoor fire pits, and just a few blocks from the beach. You can either elope at the beach, or poolside!

A-Frame Cabin in the Woods

Charlevoix, Michigan

If a rustic, woodsy elopement is what you’re going for, then exchanging vows on the steps of this A-frame cabin is the perfect fit for you. This cozy cabin on the Sturgeon River gives you the perfect private place to get married and disconnect for a few days. Additionally it has close proximity to Charlevoix and Petoskey, so it’s the perfect getaway. 

Unique Romantic Getaway

Leelanau, Michigan

This unique home located at the tip of the Leelanau peninsula would be a romantic place to tie the knot. Completely secluded, you could get married in the surrounding dunes or beneath the unique patio and have an intimate candlelit dinner to follow.

Modern West Bay Cabin

Traverse City, Michigan

Another gorgeous A-frame cabin, located in my all-time favorite destination in Michigan. Recently built and filled with modern, minimalistic design, this cabin is such an amazing stay with even better views. You can watch the sunrise every morning along over the West Harbor Bay, and you even have private beach access to enjoy the fresh, crystal clear waters. You’re within minutes of both Suttons Bay and Traverse City known for their wineries, breweries, shops, and adventures. Plus, Traverse City is home to some of the best elopement locations in Michigan.

Tiny House in Charlevoix

Charlevoix, Michigan

If you will be truly eloping just the two of you (plus an elopement photographer like myself! Photos are a must!), then this Tiny House in Northern Michigan would be the perfect place to start your journey together. Tucked in the woods, you can have a forest vow exchange. Then, you can enjoy an intimate dinner for two and a quiet retreat for a few days.

Traverse City Watefront Cottage

Traverse City, Michigan

The view from this Traverse City Airbnb is priceless. This home was designed by a locally renowned architect to look like the inside of a ship, and it sits on direct waterfront property facing the West Bay. The master bedroom on the top floor of the cottage boasts floor to ceiling windows facing the bay, so you can watch the sunrise over the water and stare at the stars through the telescope at night. Between the beautifully designed interior, and the exceptional views and access to the water, this is hands down one of the best Michigan Airbnbs.

Ludington Lake House
